From the Board of Trustees

chaliceWe light a chalice for the people of the Centre Culturel Islamique de  Québec, who have lost family and friends in a cruel act of terrorism targeted at Muslims practicing their faith.

The third principle of Unitarian Universalism calls us to accept one another and encourage spiritual growth. May we live this ideal by always speaking out against hatred and violence targeted at religious and ethnic difference.  Canada is made stronger by the diversity of its people.  We stand in sorrow and solidarity with our Muslim neighbours.

Committee Members Needed!

Considering the changes that are occurring there is a need for new members on the Membership Committee. This is a great opportunity to meet people! The Membership Committee looks after the welcoming table in the foyer, where we greet and welcome newcomers, have them register in our Guest Book and give them material on Unitarian Universalism and our congregation. Each committee member has responsibility for that once or twice a month.

Used Postage Stamps

All those stamps sent to The Leprosy Mission last year from all sources raised $15,563 in 2012 This represents cures for 40 leprosy patients through medical treatments, education and rehabilitation which also restores their dignity and courage. Thank you, everyone, for being part of this easy yet important social action. Just leave your used stamps in the box in the lobby at UCM. This is very much appreciated.

We are a peanut- and nut-free facility

This is a reminder that UCM is a peanut- and nut-free facility. Please keep this in mind when bringing food items into the building. There are several people in our congregation with anaphylactic allergies to these foods.
