Our Vision Statement

We, the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga, are a non-creedal community of religious liberals.  We aspire to:

  • Support and enrich each individual's search for truth and meaning, drawing on a variety of religious traditions and continually exploring new ideas;
  • Celebrate diversity while respecting the individual, within a caring and supportive environment;
  • Nurture intellectual, emotional and spiritual learning experiences for people of all ages;
  • Foster an ethically challenging spirit, with commitment to improving the quality of living, and promoting social justice, locally and globally;
  • Engender respect for the interconnected web of all existance and, with faith in the future, treasure the sense of mystery, wonder and beauty in the university.

Adopted June 1993.

Towards these ends, we gather for worship, education, spiritual growth, social action and fellowship.  If you are new to the Unitarian Congregation of Mississauga, visit our Visitor's Corner.

 The Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga is a Welcoming Congregation  - which means that we work to foster acceptance, inclusion, understanding, and equity for bisexual, gay, lesbian, and/or transgendered persons of all colours, races and ethnicities, both within our congregation and in society at large.

Our Unitarian Minister and Lay Chaplains perform same-sex weddings.

 The Unitarian Congregation of Mississauga is a Safe Steps Congregation.  We adopted the Safe Steps Program to prevent sexual abuse, interpersonal violence and harrassment in our congregation.

 We affirm our commitment to maintain an environment free of sexual abuse, interpersonal violence and harrassment.  This is in keeping with our committment to maintain an environment free of discrimination and harrassment based on colour, ethnicity, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender or sexual orientation.  We pledge to conduct ourselves in a manner that conveys mutual respect and consideration.

We practise preventive education, careful hiring and volunteer recruitment procedures, and policies regarding the circumstances of youth and adult interaction as concrete steps to create a safe environment for all concerned.
