Babette's Feast showing April 30

This 1987 film details the chronicles of two pious sisters in the nineteenth century Denmark.  Deovted to their late father's ministies, they both turned down the loves of their lives in order to serve their father's austere vision.  Years after their father's passing they receive a visitor - Babette - sent to them because her life was in jeopary in France.  A loyal servant, Babette, after winning a generous sum in the lottery, plans a sumptous celebratory feast which serves to restore camaraderie amoung the typically bickering congregation.

CHALICE CIRCLES

A Chalice Circle is a small group of people (5-10) who meet on a regular basis for the purpose of sharing their thoughts in an area of common interest, in order to provide an avenue for personal growth and spiritual development. The goal is to enrich the lives of its participants and strengthening the foundation of our community.
Chalice Circles are open to anyone who wants to participate.  All that is asked of you when you join a Circle is to make a commitment to try to get to all the meetings.  Groups meet at a time most convenient for the members and typically run for a year.  Trained lay leaders facilitate each Chalice Circle session.  Each gathering begins with a chalice lighting, an inspirational reading, and a check-in by each person attending.  Paricipants focus on the topic of the chalice circle for an hour or so.  The gathering closes with a check-out and a closing reading.  The members of each circle create a covenant (a set of promises) stating how they will relate to one another during their gatherings.
Two Chalice Groups will continue in 2012 -
January 14, January 28, February 11, February 25, March 17, March 31, April 14 and April 28 - Facilitated by Debbie Callendar
January 22, February 19, March 18 and April 22 - Facilitated by Katherine Stobie
