Active Democracy Congregational Workshop and Survey In 2010 the CUC passed a resolution appointing the Active Democracy Study Group to focus on how decisions should be made within the CUC; who should make them; and how, when and why congregations would like to be consulted. The group has a questionnaire to solicit responses to the following: • Who are our Stakeholders and how should they participate? • Should ministers, credentialed religious educators, associate members, etc. be delegates or have representation? • What are the best practices for selection of delegates to the CUC Annual Meeting? • How can we ensure that delegates speak for the entire congregation? • How can electronic participation and voting in meetings contribute to our democratic processes? • Do the benefits of more accessible, electronic participation outweigh the costs of face-to-face interaction? • How and where do we make decisions? • Should there be a national spokesperson who takes a stand on behalf of Canadian Unitarians and Universalists for emerging issues or should it be left to individual member congregations? There are two ways you can participate: 1. Individuals may go to http://cuc.ca/active-democracy-study-group/ to read more about this study and participate in the on-line questionnaire. 2. Or you can join our group discussion after the service on February 26. (Lunch available.)
