Labour Day Weekend - No Service

Ingathering and Water Ceremony . . . and Wendy’s InstallationAn Intergenerational Service
This first Sunday after Labour Day, our regular services resume with our annual Water Ceremony. For many of us, the summer brings different scenery with it as well as a different pace to our lives. It is a season of changes — some small, some momentous. Our Ingathering service offers us the opportunity to share our summer experiences as we head into the new year.
For our Water Ceremony, we encourage you to bring a vial of water from your summer days. For you who travelled, it may be from your journeys. For you who stayed closer to home, perhaps the water comes from the sprinkler or tap. Whatever its source, bring your water, your stories, and what it means to you. When we pour these many waters into a common bowl, we again mingle our lives and our faiths in this unique community.
This morning we also take time to welcome and recognize Wendy Shusterman as our new Director of Lifespan Learning. Join with us on this very special and celebratory occasion in the life of our congregation!
Foodpath Collection Sunday: It`s the second Sunday of the month. Please bring a food staple or financial contribution for the Mississauga Food Bank. AND REMEMBER YOUR VIAL OF WATER!

Doing Religion in a Non-Religious World
Today’s theme considers the place of religion in Canada now. What do we, as Unitarian Universalists, contribute to an increasingly secularized society? It a fascinating question for our faith tradition, a path that many Unitarian Universalists refuse to call a religion in the first place. Are we an alternative to religion?

Teach Your Children Well . . . and Don’t Forget Yourselves
We like to consider ourselves educated and sensible folk, and we want the same for our young people. We have exciting curricula this year for our children that focusses on ethical living, including a new cycle of OWL classes (Our Whole Lives sexuality education). We have created a new range of adult programs, too. We’ve designed all of these offerings to help us to become more active and useful participants in an increasingly complex world. Where do you fit in?
